Job Hunt Day 3: What did I do after my last project
Hm.. I’ve been asked twice by a prospective employer about what I did after my last project. If you notice on my resume it shows my last project at BCBS (Hi Team! Hi Chicago! Hi Dallas!)
The simple answer is: I took a year off work. I spent 4 years of fast development with our web app changing weekly. The pace was furious. We created a great app. During the project there was no way to keep up in a traditional sense of methodologies. We needed to create a web app or we didn’t have business being there. So we met everyday, the entire team (8 to 16 people) and discussed the next 24 hours. We did that for 4 years. We went from 8 jsp pages to over 400 pages. Complexity skyrocketed. Project was very successful. Management was happy and decided to implement traditional methods as the software matured and they add traditional testers. In those changesI was going to move to a different floor and would no longer sit in the same area as java guys. My job was done. We created results. I took time off. Well deserved.
I am back in Software Testing mode. Hire me!
